Mark Minton, an alumnus of Northwestern State University, has been the Director of Bands at Parkway High School in Bossier City, LA since 1997, where he directs the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band. Under his direction, the Parkway Band consistently receives superior ratings at competitions on the district, state, and national level for both concert band and marching band. Mr. Minton’s bands receive many requests to perform at business openings, military events (Barksdale Air Force Base) as well as special events in the Shreveport area. Mr. Minton has adjudicated at Band, Jazz, and Solo and Ensemble Festivals throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas. As a professional musician, Mr. Minton is a composer, arranger, and performer. He is a former member of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, North Texas Symphony Orchestra, and currently performs with the Bill Causey Orchestra. Mr. Minton is co-founder and assistant conductor of the “Red River Wind Orchestra”, a professional concert band whose mission is to perform challenging music of “Artistic Merit”. Mr. Minton’s professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu, National Association of Music Educators, Louisiana Music Education Association (LMEA), and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mr. Minton was awarded the 2017 LMEA Conductor of the Year.
Bob is a 1975 Graduate of Parkway High School and received his Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of Louisiana, Monroe in 1980. After graduating from ULM, Bob spent 20 years in advertising and public relations and 10 years in golf course management. During these two careers, Bob continued to be involved in music education by serving at various times as an adjunct instructor of Saxophone at Northwestern State University, Centenary College, and Bossier Parish Community College. In 2010, Bob joined the Talented Music Program in Bossier Parish Schools as an instructor and spent six years in this capacity before accepting the Assistant Band Director position at Parkway High in September of 2016. Bob has been an active professional musician his entire adult life and has played with every area symphony orchestra in addition to hundreds of performances as a jazz musician. Bob feels truly blessed to be back at his alma mater teaching music to the wonderful students in the Parkway band.
Mr. Ernst is the Assistant Director of Bands at Parkway High School and Elm Grove Middle School in Bossier City, Louisiana. His responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of percussion 6th-12th grade and assisting with the instruction of band activities at the middle school. He is the co-founder and Front Ensemble Caption Head for Red River Independent Percussion.
Mr. Ernst holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Northwestern State University (NSU) in Natchitoches, LA, where he studied percussion extensively under Mr. Kenneth Green. While at NSU, he served as the drumline assistant instructor and arranger for the award winning Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band. As a professional he has been an active clinician, adjudicator, and arranger for various schools in Louisiana and Texas. Mitch is an endorsed Education Artist with Innovative Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, and Evans Drum Heads. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Percussive Arts Society and the Louisiana Music Educators Association.
